You Can (and Should) Have Fun at Your Job in Real Estate – and Here’s Why

have fun at your job in real estate

Have you ever heard someone say: “Your job isn’t supposed to be fun. That’s why they call it work”? Yeah? Us too.

Somewhere down the line, people started telling each other that it’s “normal” to dread heading to the office every Monday. This has, in fact, become such a popular opinion that Monday has gained a notoriously bad reputation for being the worst day of the week. When Friday rolls around, the modern workforce takes a collective sigh of relief (#TGIF) and tries to blow off as much steam as possible before the workweek rolls around again.

Does this sound familiar? If so, then it might be time for you to rethink your approach to building your career. At Pro R.E.A. Staffing, we know that you can – and SHOULD – have fun at your next job in real estate. If you play your cards right, you might even love waking up early on Monday morning.

You Spend a Ton of Your Life Working

Let’s do the math. If you work 40 hours per week, then you’re averaging around 160 hours per month. That means you’re working 2,080 hours every year. There are 8,760 hours in a year, and you likely spend around 2,555 of them sleeping. So, you’re awake for 6205 hours per year. Add up the numbers, and you are currently working for roughly 1/3 of your life (and that’s being generous).

You can’t afford to not enjoy your job. It is one of the most time-consuming things that you’ll ever do.

Change Is Scary, but the Alternative Is Scarier

Deciding to leave an unfulfilling job isn’t as easy as it seems. Even if you’re unhappy, it’s likely that you’ve developed friendships and loyalties that stretch far beyond the 9-5 grind. The “what if” monster rears its ugly head: “What if I can’t find another job?” “What if there’s nothing better out there?” “What if I just need to suck it up like everyone else?”

Looking for a new job requires a leap of faith. You need to trust in your abilities, your instincts and the knowledge that there’s a position out there that fits you better. Your boss might be an incredible boss and your coworkers might be your best friends – but that can’t make you passionate about job that doesn’t align with your dreams and desires.
